Finding the perfect talent for a specific project is one very important piece to the successful outcome of a production. Almost every production requires talent, and the search for that talent starts with identifying what is needed for the production. For example, first we identify the general criteria required: gender, age range, height/weight, etc., then hone in on any specific attributes required such as hair color, eye color, and speaking voice.
The next step in selecting talent is supplying all the required criteria to talent agencies that assist us in matching the best talent with our requirements. The agencies then send us a link with headshots and resumes of the talent that meet our criteria. We go through the headshots for their look and resumes to find out the talent’s prior experience.
We select the talents we feel would be the best fit and set up a casting call. The casting call usually consists of the talent coming to DVI to read a portion of the script. We do this to get an idea of their overall look, how they come across on camera, their mannerisms, and what their voice sounds like. We capture these auditions on videotape and then select the best of the best.
The selected auditions, with our recommendations, are sent to the client for final review. The client makes the final selection and the talent is hired.
We put a lot of effort into selecting just the right talent, but seeing that talent on set making the production look and/or sound great is truly rewarding!
