There are certain little things that go largely unnoticed by the average person, but that we as designers are constantly aware of. One of those things is typography. It’s not uncommon to hear me saying. “I love the typeface they used in that logo” or “They left way too much kerning between the ‘o’ and the ‘v’ there.” (For those of you saying, “Huh..?” kerning refers to the spacing between letters.)
When we move into post-production, type choices are always a serious consideration. Every typeface has a purpose and application and every video needs a distinct voice. Effective communication is often directly related to type choice. It’s all about finding your video’s typographic soul mate and we are expert matchmakers.
Even after the basic type is selected, there are many more details to consider. Among those details are kerning, leading (the space between lines of type) and point size. Should the title be bold? And what should you italicize? These decisions are second nature to our team of expert designers.
If you want to try your hand at one of the most important aspects of typesetting, play the kerning game. (Be warned, it’s addictive!) Post your scores below and we’ll stir up a little friendly competition!
